A.J Bass Opticians and Contact Lens Centre

1983 – AJ Bass Opticians was founded by Tony Bass. The practice was based in The Borough of Downton, with the aim of providing the community with a personalised eye care service.

In the beginning the practice was run by Tony as the Optometrist and his father George as the Dispensing Optician.

1987 – A second branch was opened at the High Street in Fordingbridge. This branch was managed by the family.
Over the years, more staff joined the team and some even stayed with Mr Bass for over 25 years.

2017 – Mr Bass decided to retire and sell the two practices. They were sold to Mr Mohammed Kanji, an Optometrist who shares the same professional values and seeks to provide the best possible care to his patients.

2019 and onward – 2 years after buying the practice, Mr Kanji and his optical team continue to serve the community with care, compassion and clinical competence.
